Panevezys Independence Square, surrounded by cultural and public objects, loses its attractiveness to residents and guests due to physical wear of infrastructure, insufficient adaptation to daily visits and organisation of local events. The aim of the project is to contribute to creating favourable conditions for the development and creation of a business environment, the development of community activities in Panevėžys city. The goal of the project is to strengthen the existing centre of attraction in Panevėžys by remediating the public space in the Independence Square and its access. In order to achieve this task, activities are planned — the remediation of the public spaces in the centre of Panevėžys — the Independence Square and its accesses. The following works are planned for the Independence Square and its access: reconstruction of existing pedestrian-bicycle paths, renovation of square pavement, refurbishment of fountain and greenery, installation of small architectural elements, refurbishment and installation of lighting. The restoration of the Independence Square and its access is expected to improve the physical condition of the square and improve the aesthetic view of the city, create conditions for community activities and promote the economic development of the city. Panevėžio miesto Nepriklausomybės aikštė, apsupta kultūrinių ir visuomeninių objektų, praranda patrauklumą miesto gyventojams ir svečiams dėl fizinio infrastruktūros susidėvėjimo, nepakankamo pritaikymo kasdieniam lankymui ir lokalių renginių organizavimui. Projekto tikslas – prisidėti prie palankių sąlygų verslo aplinkos plėtrai ir kūrimui, bendruomenės veiklos plėtrai sudarymo Panevėžio mieste. Projekto uždavinys – stiprinti esamą traukos centrą Panevėžio mieste, sutvarkant viešąją erdvę Nepriklausomybės aikštėje ir jos prieigose. Šiam uždaviniui pasiekti numatoma veikla – Panevėžio miesto centre esančios viešosios erdvės – Nepriklausomybės aikštės ir jos prieigų sutvarkymas. Nepriklausomybės aikštėje ir jos prieigose planuojama atlikti šiuos darbus: esamų pėsčiųjų-dviračių takų rekonstravimas, aikštės dangos atnaujinimas, fontano ir želdynų atnaujinimas, mažosios architektūros elementų įrengimas, apšvietimo atnaujinimas ir įrengimas. Tikimasi, kad sutvarkius Nepriklausomybės aikštę ir jos prieigas, bus pagerinta aikštės fizinė būklė ir pagerės miesto estetinis vaizdas, bus sudarytos sąlygos bendruomeninei veiklai, skatinamas ekonominis miesto vystymasis.
