The Academy of Avans Hogeschool consists of three teams: Communication, Multimedia Design and the Academy Office. The Academy Agency consists of about 12 employees and supports the educational process. This team is looking for a way to shape support in a targeted and efficient way, to deepen the link with stakeholders and to exploit the talents and affinities of the staff. After the departure of the team coordinator, an open discussion was held about the management of the team. The team has a high task maturity and wants more control space and responsibility. The management then decided to focus on the development of a self-organising team. The starting point is that self-organisation leads to more engagement, motivation, work pleasure and enjoyable industrial relations. In the process towards self-organisation, the team is supervised by external advisors. For this guidance, we have applied for an ESF grant for Sustainable Employability. As the team moves towards self-organisation, the team is leading in shaping the development process. A process based on experience learning: dare to experiment, reflect and continue to look for opportunities. The Deputy Director shall indicate and facilitate the frameworks. Advisors guide the process. Depending on the need, we decide in consultation (team, deputy director and advisors) what the next step is. We research and realise self-organisation in the following areas: goals/expected results, work processes, roles within the team, collaboration &Amp; communication within the team and individual talents/competences &Amp; mindset. Working forms we use are working sessions, team coaching, intervision and individual coaching — based on daily practice. Where necessary, we use team and individual tests. Result expectancy is that at the end of 2019 there will be a robust team that works professionally, self-organising and with pleasure to optimally support the Communication and Multimedia Design programmes.
