On behalf of the labour market region of Friesland, the municipality of Leeuwarden receives EUR 6.3 million from the European Corona Emergency Fund called REACT-EU. These funds have been made available by the European Commission to address the employment and social impacts of the COVID-19 crisis. Leeuwarden distributes this European subsidy to all Frisian municipalities. Municipalities are using this subsidy for support and mediation for employment of more than 4,200 inhabitants who have been receiving unemployment benefits since February 2020. Centrumgemeente Leeuwarden ontvangt namens de arbeidsmarktregio Friesland 6,3 miljoen euro subsidie uit het Europese Corona Noodfonds genaamd REACT-EU. Deze gelden heeft de Europese Commissie beschikbaar gesteld om de werkgelegenheids- en sociale effecten van de COVID-19-crisis aan te pakken. Leeuwarden verdeeld deze Europese subsidie over alle Friese gemeenten. Gemeenten zetten deze subsidie in voor ondersteuning en bemiddeling naar werk van ruim 4.200 inwoners die sinds februari 2020 een werkloosheidsuitkering ontvangen. Friesland wil met dit geld ook extra inzet plegen op inburgering van vluchtelingen die zich hier al enkele jaren geleden gevestigd hebben. (Dutch)
