Projekt řeší modernizaci silnice III/220 6 včetně mostu přes Vitický potok (ev.č. 220 6-1) a to v úseku mezi obcemi Fojtov a Děpoltovice. Jedná se o poměrně významnou silnici III. třídy, která nemá parametry odpovídající požadavkům ČSN. Silnice je důležitou součástí silniční sítě Karlovarského kraje, která převádí dopravu ve směru severozápad - jihovýchod a je důležitou spojnicí na silnici II/220 a dále do Karlových Varů na připojení k I/6 Karlovy Vary - Praha a k dalším komunikacím.
