Property / summary | |||||||||||||||
The project “School — Dream Workshops” will be implemented for 26 months by the Association “Youth Education for Civic Activity”, Smolyan in partnership with “Stoyu Shishkov” Primary School and Smolyan Municipality. 140 socially disadvantaged students from the partner school will participate directly, 28 of whom are of Roma background. The Roma minority group lives in a separate neighbourhood, with the characteristics of a ghetto. There is distancing and derogatory attitude towards Roma children and young people. They live poorly because the majority of adults are unemployed. There is a problem with the early school drop-out of Roma children due to their families’ lack of motivation to encourage them to continue their education. This project will integrate and integrate Roma pupils not only into the education system, but also into the life of the community. It will contribute to building a tolerant and developing environment in the school and in the local community, so that they can develop their personal potentials and fully realise themselves. The main activities planned in the project are: additional training in Bulgarian for non-mother pupils; creative and sporting activities; pupils’ performance in front of the local community; psychological support for pupils in need; working with the parents of Roma students to improve their parental skills and transparent and effective project management and administration. As a result of the implementation of the project activities, a tolerant and divergent environment will be created in the school, better conditions for supporting Roma pupils in their families and overcoming negative attitudes in the local community based on ethnic origin. Effective partnership and cooperation between the three partners will be built to ensure the sustainability of project results once the project is finalised. (English) | |||||||||||||||

(Bulgarian)
