Renovation and modernisation of the pedestrian area in the central urban part of Vratsa
Property / summary

With the reconstruction of the central pedestrian zone in Vratsa, we strive to shape and build a better vision of pedestrian areas and sidewalks, as well as areas for public recreation, consistent with the unique character of our city. This project will seek a unified concept of safe, sustainable and high environmental and aesthetic quality urban environment — pedestrian flooring, cycle paths, color layout and artistic lighting, suitable elements of urban design — small architectural forms, signposts, energy-saving street lighting, various forms of urban landscaping, as well as creating an accessible architectural environment. The project proposal is developed on the basis of an integrated territorial approach, i.e. a system of interconnected actions aimed at lasting improvement of the economic, social and environmental status of the territory. The basis of this process is ‘integration’, which means that all the activities in the project proposal are considered in their interrelationship with a view to ensuring that the overall impact of the project’s implementation exceeds the sum of the effects of its individual components if they are carried out separately. The terrain has been reconstructed and renovated over the last 30 years, but needs a new vision and rehabilitation. The project is consistent with the spatial and functional areas in the CGC and reflects their nature, as they are saturated with new alternative and social activities. The positive moments in the already realised objects under other schemes and programs in terms of composition, materials, elements of urban furnishing are preserved and further developed, and they are part of the new concept. New places for recreation, social contacts, cultural activities and urban events have been sought. The project proposes maximum preservation and increase of green areas. (English)

(Bulgarian)
