Technical assistance to improve road safety
Property / summary

Road safety is one of the EU’s main priorities. In 2017, EU transport ministers took action on road safety policies, both at EU and national level. As a result, an EU strategic framework is currently being prepared to outline the priorities related to road safety for the period up to 2020-2030. Increasing the level of road safety by developing new methodologies for testing the psychological fitness of motor vehicle drivers (Vehicles) is linked to the implementation of a long-term policy aimed at reducing the number and consequences of road accidents (VTBs) and is in line with the MTITC Strategy to improve traffic safety in Bulgaria for the period 2011-2020 and the National Strategy for Improvement of Road Safety on Road Traffic Safety of the Republic of Bulgaria for the period 2011-2020. The new methodologies for testing the psychological fitness of drivers will potentially lead to the death of roadworthiness, and the risk-retrieval process will potentially result in a dangerous road accidental detection and a risk loss. The results of the project will provide information on the transport sector and related socio-economic indicators, in volume and quality, necessary for the development and making of operational and strategic decisions, in particular in the field of road safety. The project contributes to the general objective of OPTTI “Developing a sustainable transport system” through its contribution to improving road safety and security. (English)

(Bulgarian)
