LA DEGRADACION FORESTAL ES UN PROCESO COMPLEJO QUE AFECTA A LA CAPACIDAD DE LOS BOSQUES PARA PROPORCIONAR BIENES Y SERVICIOS COMO RESULTADO DE PERTURBACIONES DE ORIGEN NATURAL Y ANTROPICO. SE TRATA DE UN PROCESO DE DIFICIL CARACTERIZACION Y CUANTIFICACION, DEBIDO A LOS MULTIPLES BIENES Y SERVICIOS QUE PUEDEN SER DEGRADADOS EN LOS BOSQUES, Y AL EFECTO DIFERENCIAL QUE UN MISMO TIPO DE PERTURBACION PUEDE TENER SOBRE CADA UNO DE ELLOS. ESTA COMPLEJIDAD SUPONE QUE, A DIA DE HOY, NO EXISTA UNA DEFINICION PRECISA DE DEGRADACION FORESTAL QUE PUEDA SER EMPLEADA DE FORMA OPERATIVA PARA ESTIMAR SU INTENSIDAD EN UN DETERMINADO RODAL, INCLUSO PARA AQUELLOS CASOS CUANDO UNICAMENTE ES DE INTERES UN BIEN O SERVICIO AMBIENTAL, COMO PODRIA SER EL STOCK DE CARBONO. ADEMAS, LA METODOLOGIA EN USO PARA LA CARACTERIZACION DEL ESTADO DE PERTURBACION PRESENTA UNA SERIE DE PROBLEMAS DE INTERPRETACION QUE LIMITAN SU UTILIDAD PRACTICA Y SU APLICACION A GRAN ESCALA MEDIANTE SISTEMAS DE MONITORIZACION AMBIENTAL DE AREAS AMPLIAS, COMO ES EL CASO DE LOS INVENTARIOS FORESTALES NACIONALES O LA INFORMACION DE SENSORES REMOTOS._x000D_ EN ESTE PROYECTO SE PRETENDEN CONSTRUIR MODELOS PARA LA CUANTIFICACION DEL ESTADO DE PERTURBACION (O ESTADO DE MADUREZ) EN MASAS NATURALES Y SU RELACION CON LOS STOCKS DE CARBONO Y ESTRUCTURA DE MASA. LOS MODELOS ESTARAN BASADOS EN LA RELACION ENTRE PRODUCTIVIDAD DEL SITIO Y MAXIMO STOCK DE BIOMASA EN CONDICIONES DE NATURALIDAD, Y SE PRETENDE QUE PUEDAN SER EMPLEADOS MEDIANTE EL USO DE UN UNICO INVENTARIO DE CAMPO. SE EVALUARA LA ROBUSTEZ DE LOS MODELOS PROPUESTOS RESPECTO AL ESTADO DE PERTURBACION DE LOS DATOS DE BASE EMPLEADOS PARA SU CONSTRUCCION, Y SE EVALUARA LA CONSISTENCIA DE LOS MODELOS PROPUESTOS PARA MASAS NATURALES IRREGULARES CON LOS BIEN CONOCIDOS Y CONTRASTADOS PARA MASAS COETANEAS. SE USARA LA INFORMACION DEL INVENTARIO FORESTAL NACIONAL PARA CARACTERIZAR EL GRADO DE MADUREZ DE ALGUNAS TIPOLOGIAS DE MASAS FORESTALES ESPAÑOLAS, Y SE PRODUCIRAN ESTIMACIONES DE LA DINAMICA DEL ESTADO DE MADUREZ PARA CADA TIPOLOGIA DE MASA. SE EVALUARA ADEMAS EL DESEMPEÑO DE NUEVOS SISTEMAS DE INVENTARIACION (TERRESTRIAL LASER SCANNING Y FORESTEREO) Y VARIOS PRODUCTOS DE TELEDETECCION (LIDAR Y SERIES TEMPORALES DE LANDSAT) PARA PREDECIR EL ESTADO DE DEGRADACION DE MASAS NATURALES._x000D_ PARA LA CONSECUCION DE LOS OBJETIVOS PROPUESTOS SE PLANTEA EL ESTABLECIMIENTO DE 200 PARCELAS DE INVENTARIO DISTRIBUIDAS EN 5 TIPOLOGIAS DE MASA, DEFINIENDO ESTAS EN BASE A CARACTERISTICAS ESTRUCTURALES, DE COMPOSICION ESPECIFICA Y REGIMEN DE PERTURBACIONES. PARA CADA TIPOLOGIA SELECCIONADA SE ESTABLECERAN 30 PARCELAS EN RODALES MADUROS EN ESTADO DE MAXIMA ACUMULACION DE BIOMASA DERIVADA DE LARGOS PERIODOS DE TIEMPO SIN PERTURBACIONES EXTRACTIVAS. ESTAS PARCELAS CUBRIRAN EL RANGO DE CALIDAD DE ESTACION OBSERVADO PARA CADA TIPOLOGIA DE MASA EN BASE AL IFN. SE ESTABLECERAN ADEMAS 10 PARCELAS POR TIPOLOGIA DE BOSQUE QUE REPRESENTEN LOS ESTADOS DE PERTURBACION MAS FRECUENTES PARA CADA TIPOLOGIA DE MASA. _x000D_ EL EQUIPO INVESTIGADOR ESTA FORMADO POR INVESTIGADORES DE LA UNIVERSIDAD DE SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA (USC) Y DE LA UNIVERSIDAD DE OVIEDO, Y EN EL EQUIPO DE TRABAJO SE CONTARA TAMBIEN CON UN INVESTIGADOR DE LA GEORG-AUGUST-UNIVERSITAT GOTTINGEN (ALEMANIA). EL PERFIL INVESTIGADOR DE LOS SOLICITANTES ESTA ESTRECHAMENTE RELACIONADO CON LAS AREAS DE MODELIZACION FORESTAL, INVENTARIO FORESTAL, TELEDETECCION, CAPTURA DE CARBONO Y ECOLOGIA DEL PAISAJE. FOREST DEGRADATION IS A COMPLEX PROCESS THAT AFFECTS THE ABILITY OF FORESTS TO PROVIDE GOODS AND SERVICES AS A RESULT OF NATURAL AND ANTROPIC DISTURBANCES. IT IS A PROCESS OF DIFFICULT CHARACTERISATION AND QUANTIFICATION, DUE TO THE MULTIPLE GOODS AND SERVICES THAT CAN BE DEGRADED IN FORESTS, AND THE DIFFERENTIAL EFFECT THAT THE SAME TYPE OF DISTURBANCE CAN HAVE ON EACH OF THEM. THIS COMPLEXITY MEANS THAT, TODAY, THERE IS NO PRECISE DEFINITION OF FOREST DEGRADATION THAT CAN BE USED OPERATIONALLY TO ESTIMATE ITS INTENSITY IN A CERTAIN STAND, EVEN FOR THOSE CASES WHEN ONLY AN ENVIRONMENTAL GOOD OR SERVICE, SUCH AS CARBON STOCK, IS OF INTEREST. In addition, the METHODOLOGY IN USE FOR THE CHARACTERISATION OF THE STATE OF DisturbING PRESENTAY A SERIE OF INTERPRETATION PROBLEMS That LIMITATE YOUR PRACTICAL Utility AND APPLICATION TO GREEN ESCALS MEDIANT SYSTEMS OF AMBIENTAL AREAS MONITORISATIONS, as is the case of NATIONAL FORESTINVENTARIES or REMOTE SENSORS INFORMATION._x000D_ IN THIS PROJECT CONSTRUCTION MODELS FOR THE quantification of the state of disturbance (or MADUREZ STATE) in NATURAL WORKS AND RELATION WITH CARBON STOCKS AND MASA STRUCTURE. THE MODELS WILL BE BASED ON THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SITE PRODUCTIVITY AND MAXIMUM BIOMASS STOCK UNDER NATURAL CONDITIONS, AND IT IS INTENDED THAT THEY CAN BE USED THROUGH THE USE OF A SINGLE FIELD INVENTORY. THE ROBUSTNESS OF THE PROPOSED MODELS WITH RESPECT TO THE STATE OF DISTURBANCE OF THE BASE DATA USED FOR THEIR CONSTRUCTION WILL BE EVALUATED, AND THE CONSISTENCY OF THE MODELS PROPOSED FOR IRREGULAR NATURAL MASSES WITH THOSE WELL KNOWN AND CONTRASTED FOR COETANEAS MASSES WILL BE EVALUATED. THE INFORMATION FROM THE NATIONAL FOREST INVENTORY WILL BE USED TO CHARACTERISE THE DEGREE OF MATURITY OF SOME TYPES OF SPANISH FOREST MASSES, AND ESTIMATES OF THE DYNAMICS OF THE STATE OF MATURITY WILL BE PRODUCED FOR EACH TYPE OF MASS. The breakdown of new INVENTARIATION SYSTEMS (Terrestrial LASER SCANNING AND FORESTEREO) and several remote detection products (LIDAR AND SERVICES TEMPORAL DE LANDSAT) will be evaluated to pre-empt the state of degradation of natural mass._x000D_ for the achievement of the OBJECTIVES the stabilising of 200 INVENTARY PARLIAMENTS DISTRIBUTED IN 5 MASA typologies, defining these in STRUCTURAL CHARACTERISTICS, SPECIFIC COMPOSICATION AND PERTURBATION REGIMENATIONS. FOR EACH TYPEOLOGY SELECTED 30 PLOTS WILL BE ESTABLISHED IN MATURE STANDS IN STATE OF MAXIMUM ACCUMULATION OF BIOMASS DERIVED FROM LONG PERIODS OF TIME WITHOUT EXTRACTIVE DISTURBANCES. THESE PLOTS WILL COVER THE STATION QUALITY RANGE OBSERVED FOR EACH TYPE OF MASS BASED ON THE IFN. IN ADDITION 10 PLOTS WILL BE ESTABLISHED BY FOREST TYPOLOGY THAT REPRESENT THE MOST FREQUENT STATES OF DISTURBANCE FOR EACH TYPE OF MASS. _x000D_ the RESEARCHING TEAM is formed by researchers of the UNIVERSITY OF COMPOSTELA SANTIAGO (USC) and the UNIVERSITY OF OVIEDO, and in the working team will be counted on a researcher of the GEORG-AUGUST-UNIVERSITAT Gottingen (GERMANY). THE RESEARCH PROFILE OF THE APPLICANTS IS CLOSELY RELATED TO THE AREAS OF FOREST MODELLING, FOREST INVENTORY, REMOTE DETECTION, CARBON CAPTURE AND LANDSCAPE ECOLOGY. (English)
