Las Plataformas Áreas de Investigación del INTA son herramientas necesarias para la realización de gran parte de los proyectos en determinados campos científico, en especial el medioambiental (tanto desde el aspecto atmosférico como de observación de la Tierra). La operatividad, funcionalidad y disponibilidad de los dos aviones C-212-200 con los que cuenta actualmente el segmento aéreo de la ICTS PAI, se encuentra afectada por un alto grado de obsolescencia sobrevenida fundamentalmente en equipos electrónicos y eléctricos._x000D_ Con el presente proyecto FENYX, ambas aeronaves C212-200 serán sustituidas por una gran aeronave de alta capacidad, que no solo garantizará la permanencia a largo plazo de la ICTS, sino que hará posible ampliar las capacidades existentes (autonomía, carga de pago, alcance…)_x000D_ La nueva aeronave que se propone es un C-295, elección que se justifica a partir de la revisión del informe final del programa COPAL (COmmunity heavy-PAyload Long endurance Instrumented Aircraft for Tropospheric Research in Environmental and Geo-Sciences)._x000D_ Con esta nueva aeronave se podrán llevar hasta 10 grupos de científicos a bordo, con una autonomía de unas 8h, lo cual permitirá aumentar significativamente la capacidad investigadora existente en Europa, y en particular en España. The INTA Research Areas Platforms are necessary tools for the realization of a large part of the projects in certain scientific fields, especially the environmental one (as much from the atmospheric aspect as of observation of the Earth). The operation, functionality and availability of the two C-212-200 aircraft currently in the ICTS PAI air segment is affected by a high degree of obsolescence mainly due to electronic and electrical equipment._x000D_ With the present FENYX project, both C212-200 aircraft will be replaced by a large high capacity aircraft, which will not only guarantee the long-term permanence of the ICTS, but also make it possible to expand existing capacities (autonomy, payload, ...)_x000D_ The proposed new aircraft is a C-295, a choice that is justified by the review of the final report of the COPAL (COmmunity heavy-PAyload Long Endurance Instrumented Aircraft for Tropospheric Research in Environmental and Geo-Sciences) program._x000D_ With this new aircraft can carry up to 10 groups of scientists on board, with an autonomy of about 8 hours, which will significantly increase the existing research capacity in Europe, and in particular in Spain.
