Property / summary

The project concerns the development of a globally innovative product, which ensures the collection, preservation and provision of archive corporate information in archives with relevance for studies, journalistic investigations, economic analyses and comparisons, risk assessment, historical and similar research of a business, scientific and educational nature. The subject of development is a qualitatively new type of archive/library, representing the world’s first semantic-enriched digital archive for the so-called corporate heritage with the possibility of elastic search. An approach is applied whereby the aim of the archive is to preserve essential information provided by the organisations themselves as a source — preserving the uniqueness of their culture, stylistics and identity, rather than data processed by publishers. Users will be able to search directly through an interactive module in an extensive, structured and semantically enriched catalogue of companies already missing or lost data stored long-term and in their original form in the historical corporate heritage archive. In this way it will be possible to analyse news and data that are no longer on the web due to the so-called bit rot (loss of digital artifacts due to the modification or disappearance of the source). The project is aimed at developing a new product in the thematic area “Creative and recreative industries” of ISIS. To this end, it is envisaged to appoint 11 experts whose role will be to create a database project, to examine individual sources and to define criteria for determining their importance, to create semantic enriching links and to implement a prototype of the final product. The project will be implemented at the same time in Sofia and Vratsa, as the hardware and database needed to conduct the basic research activities will be purchased in the SJR — in the phases of industrial research and experimental development.
