Este proyecto solicita la financiación necesaria para dotar un laboratorio dedicado a la investigación en tecnologías 5G. Los investigadores del centro de investigación atlanTTic de la Universidad de Vigo vienen trabajando en esta temática desde hace tiempo, con buena proyección nacional e internacional que se pone de manifiesto en numerosas publicaciones y colaboraciones con la industria. El equipamiento solicitado vendría a reforzar la capacidad de trabajo en virtualización de funciones de red, coexistencia de servicios, programabilidad de los dispositivos de comunicaciones y caracterización del medio en nuevas bandas de frecuencia. Se superarían así las limitaciones de los equipos actualmente disponibles para trabajar con bandas de frecuencia elevadas, así como las dificultades para acceder desde el mundo académico a redes con características 5G. La colaboración con el entorno de innovación se vería igualmente beneficiada, con colaboraciones previas y en curso con empresas como Cellnex o Telefónica, así como centros tecnológicos como Gradiant. This project requests the necessary funding to create a laboratory focused on research in 5G technologies. Researchers at the atlanTTic research center of the University of Vigo have been working on this area for a long time, with good national and international projection that is evident in numerous publications and collaborations with the industry. The requested equipment would reinforce the working capacity in virtualization of network functions, coexistence of services, programmability of communication devices and characterization of the medium in new frequency bands. This would overcome the limitations of the equipment currently available to work with high frequency bands, as well as the difficulties to access networks with 5G characteristics from the academic world. Collaboration with the innovation environment would also benefit, with previous and ongoing collaborations with companies such as Cellnex or Telefónica, as well as technology centers such as Gradiant.
