Insects are an important part of the natural, evolutionary diet of many species of birds and fish. Recently use of insect meal has been proposed as a sustainable alternative to other protein sources. Main objective of the project will be to investigate the impact of bioactive insect proteins on the results of broiler chickens' and salmonid fish’ growth performance, intestinal digestibility of primary nutrients and amino acids, metabolic energy availability, as well as the composition and activity of the digestive tract microbiome. Moreover, determination of the impact of insect protein supplementation to broiler chickens' and salmonid fish diet on the prevalence of potentially pathogenic bacteria will be performed using modern techniques of molecular biology. Project will help HiProMine S.A. to gain more understanding of on insect protein usage in poultry and aquaculture, also results of the studies will be used by company in legislation procedures and in marketing of feed products.
