Le 21ème siècle fera très certainement la part belle au développement durable ainsi qu'à la construction bois. Il verra également arriver à maturité une ressource nationale exceptionnelle : le Douglas. Cette essence émergente dispose de caractéristiques qui l'oriente naturellement sur le marché de la construction. La France est le premier pays producteur de Douglas en Europe. Plus de 80% de la ressource est concentrée sur le Massif Central. Le développement d'une filière douglas structurée de l'amont à l'aval constitue un enjeu majeur pour l'économie nationale, enjeu d'autant plus fort que la ressource entre dans une phase de production accélérée. Les volumes attendus pour les 20 prochaines années représentent un défi considérable en termes de valorisation, et une incroyable opportunité d'action : ils confirment l'absolue nécessité de mener un programme d'action cohérent et ambitieux qui puisse relever les défis environnementaux et sociaux-économiques de nos territoires. C'est le sens du programme d'actions de France Douglas sur la période 2019-2021. Ce programme s'articule autours de 2 grands objectifs complémentaires : 1. Favoriser l'innovation des entreprises et acteurs de la filière : émergence de nouveaux produits. 2. Développer et fiabiliser l'utilisation du Douglas sur le marché de la construction. (French)

The 21st century will certainly make a significant contribution to sustainable development as well as to wood construction. It will also mature an exceptional national resource: the Douglas. This emergent essence has characteristics that naturally orients it on the construction market. France is the leading producer of Douglas in Europe. More than 80 % of the resource is concentrated on the Massif Central. The development of a structured Douglas sector from upstream to downstream is a major challenge for the national economy, all the more so as the resource enters a phase of accelerated production. The volumes expected for the next 20 years represent a considerable challenge in terms of valuation, and an incredible opportunity for action: they confirm the absolute need for a coherent and ambitious action programme that can address the environmental and social-economic challenges of our territories. This is the meaning of France Douglas’ programme of actions for the period 2019-2021. This programme is structured around two main complementary objectives: 1. Fostering innovation by companies and stakeholders in the sector: emergence of new products. 2. Develop and trust the use of Douglas in the construction market. (English)
