Les marais concernés sont des sites naturels à très forts enjeux écologiques. Ils font partie des réservoirs de biodiversité identifiés en région et sont constitués pour l'essentiel de milieux tourbeux et d'étang. Les opérations programmées permettent de protéger et de restaurer la biodiversité. Elles ont été identifiées dans des plans de gestion déclinés annuellement et font appel à des moyens spécifiques en raison des contraintes physiques importantes (sols faiblement portants et écologiquement fragiles, difficultés d'accès).
