The project package consists of an investment project that procures a liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry equipment with very precise resolution and sensitivity and a development project that optimises the instrument in question for analytics of fat-soluble compounds with the aim of establishing a lipidomic analysis platform at the University of Eastern Finland. The aim of the project package is to select the most suitable instrumentation, and to initiate and optimise analytics for lipidomics analysis services. The optimisation of analytics focuses particularly on the needs of the food industry, and the application includes six operators in the sector, DuPont, Fazer, Valio, Milkland, Biosafe, and Innolact. Companies utilise the results of analytics, for example, in product development, quality control and further productisation of services to international markets. Each company participates in the project by providing a series of pilot samples (10-20 samples) selected by them on the basis of customer needs and commercial interest. These series of pilot samples will be tested and analysed during the project and will serve as a basis for future research projects with the companies concerned. This project package strengthens the conditions for the utilisation and commercialisation of new, modern analytics in the food sector in Northern Savo, as well as nationwide, even worldwide. In the next phase, after the end of the project, lipidomics analytics can be extended to the strengthening health technology sector in Northern Savo. The project is in line with the horizontal principles of the Structural Funds programmes, in particular in the context of economic sustainability, by setting up a new analytical service platform for intangible services, which will contribute to the development of the business structure, using it by local food industry operators. Hankekokonaisuus muodostuu investointihankkeesta, jossa hankitaan erittäin tarkan erottelukyvyn ja herkkyyden omaava nestekromatografia-massaspektrometri-laitteisto ja kehittämishankkeesta, jossa kyseinen instrumentaatio optimoidaan rasvaliukoisten yhdisteiden analytiikkaan tavoitteena lipidomiikka-analyysialustan perustaminen itä-Suomen Yliopistoon. Hankekokonaisuuden tavoitteena on valita sopivin mahdollinen instrumentaatio, sekä käynnistää ja optimoida analytiikka lipidomiikka-analyysipalveluita varten. Analytiikan optimoinnissa keskitytään erityisesti elintarviketeollisuuden tarpeisiin, ja hakemuksessa on mukana kuusi alan toimijaa, DuPont, Fazer, Valio, Maitomaa, Biosafe, ja Innolact. Yritykset hyödyntävät analytiikan tuomia tuloksia esim. tuotekehityksessä, laadunvalvonnassa, sekä edelleen tuotteistamalla palveluita kansainvälisille markkinoille. Kukin yritys osallistuu projektiin toimittamalla pilottinäytesarjan (10-20 näytettä), jonka he ovat valinneet asiakastarpeen ja kaupallisen kiinnostuksen perusteella. Nämä pilottinäytesarjat testataan ja analysoidaan projektin aikana, ja ne toimivat pohjana tuleville tutkimusprojekteille ko. yritysten kanssa. Tämä hankekokonaisuus vahvistaa uuden, modernin analytiikan hyödyntämis- ja kaupallistamisedellytyksiä elintarvikesektorilla Pohjois-Savossa, sekä valtakunnallisesti, jopa maailmanlaajuisesti. Seuraavassa vaiheessa, hankkeen päättymisen jälkeen, lipidomiikka-analytiikkaa voidaan laajentaa Pohjois-Savossa vahvistuvalle terveysteknologiasektorille. Hanke noudattaa rakennerahasto-ohjelmien horisontaalisia periaatteita, erityisesti taloudellisen kestävän kehityksen puitteissa, sillä hankkeessa perustetaan uusi, aineettomia palveluja tuottava analyysipalvelualusta, joka edesauttaa elinkeinorakenteen kehittämistä paikallisten elintarviketeollisuuden toimijoiden hyödyntäessä sitä. Lisäksi sukupuolten välinen tasa-arvo toteutuu hankkeessa hyvin, mukana on molempia sukupuolia. (Finnish)
