Le programme FERMAPYR repose sur un inventaire détaillé des vestiges industriels de la métallurgie fer et des témoignages documentaires qui leur sont associés entre l'Antiquité et le milieu du XVIIe siècle dans la partie orientale des Pyrénées. La réalisation de cet inventaire répond à plusieurs objectifs : - pérenniser la conservation d'une documentation matérielle qui se détériore, - constituer une base de données harmonisée et diachronique sur le patrimoine industriel qui appréhende l'ensemble de la chaîne opératoire du fer, - étudier les circulations des produits et des hommes en relation avec cette activité à l'échelle du massif des Pyrénées, - caractériser les innovations et les particularités techniques développées dans les Pyrénées.
