Le Mans Métropole souhaite promouvoir les déplacements doux afin de réduire les émissions de gaz à effet de serre et développer des solutions alternatives à l’usage de la voiture individuelle. La VC 246 est une voie rectiligne peu large, sans trottoir ni aménagement cyclable, particulièrement empruntée par les lycéens de la Germinière qui se rendent aux arrêts de bus ou au terminus du tramway. Cette opération de création de piste cyclable, portée par la communauté urbaine Le Mans Métropole fait partie des opérations sélectionnées dans le cadre de son plan d’actions d’investissements territoriaux intégrés (ITI).
