For several years, the Community of Aglomeration of Saint-Omer has focused its mobility policy on improving the multimodality of the Pole Gares de Saint-Omer, where all its transport offers converge. This ambition has been reaffirmed in the context of the project of territory of the Community of Aglomeration of the Pays de Saint-Omer created on 1 January 2017. In the same way, as early as 2008, the Territorial Coherence Schema of the Pays de Saint-Omer took up this issue by identifying the strengthening of the Gares pole as a major issue of balanced spatial planning, a tool for the promotion of the Pays de Saint-Omer and its future Metropolitan Pole. Due to its crucial challenge for the attractiveness and development of Audomarois, the development of the Gares de Saint-Omer Pole has been identified as a metropolitan issue under the 2015-2020 State-Region Plan Contract. Aware of the challenges outlined above and the strategic potential of the Gares Pole, the Community of Aglomeration of the Pays de Saint-Omer wanted to develop a project of excellence in the fields of economic development, public transport, soft modes, the environment, accessibility, digital and heritage preservation. This will involve rehabilitating the station’s building into an eco-digital and service hub. (English)

(French)
