Les Antilles hébergent un riche patrimoine végétal, que ce soit dans les espaces naturels, au sein des exploitations agricoles, ou ex situ dans des collections de ressources génétiques. Ces ressources biologiques constituent un patrimoine valorisable pour le développement agricole et pour l'agro-transformation. Elles permettent et permettront d’élaborer et/ou diffuser des variétés végétales et itinéraires techniques associés, en répondant aux évolutions qui surviennent dans nos régions. Une meilleure valorisation des ressources génétiques devrait donc permettre d'offrir des systèmes de production plus diversifiés en termes d’espèces et de gammes variétales. Il est donc majeur de consolider et pérenniser le dispositif, afin qu’il soit en mesure de conserver à long terme ses ressources génétiques, à enrichir les collections, et à les diffuser plus largement. La valorisation et l’exploitation des ressources génétiques du CRB INRA-CIRAD Plantes Tropicales des Antilles se feront en lien avec le projet d’innovation variétale : CAVALBIO, avec des opérations de transfert menées avec les instituts techniques et les partenaires professionnels, dans le cadre du RITA (Réseau d’Innovation et de Transfert Agricole). These biological resources are a valuable heritage for agricultural development and agro-processing. They enable and will enable the development and/or dissemination of plant varieties and associated technical routes, responding to developments in our regions. Better exploitation of genetic resources should therefore make it possible to offer more diversified production systems in terms of species and variety ranges. It is therefore important to consolidate and sustain the system, so that it is able to conserve its genetic resources in the long term, to enrich the collections and to disseminate them more widely. The development and exploitation of the genetic resources of the CRB INRA-CIRAD Tropical Plants of the West Indies will be linked to the varietal innovation project: CAVALBIO, with transfer operations carried out with technical institutes and professional partners, within the framework of the RITA (Network of Innovation and Agricultural Transfer).
