La plate-forme du Vectopôle Lavalette, initiée dans le cadre d'un projet CPER 2007-2013, regroupe des laboratoires et des insectariums de niveaux de sécurité différents en vue de la réalisation d'expérimentations pour l'étude des interactions virus-hôtes humains. Cette structure est notamment composée d'un insectarium de niveau de sécurité maximal, afin de pouvoir manipuler des virus extrêmement pathogènes tels que la dengue, le chikungunya… Celui-ci constitue une structure d'excellence pour le territoire régional et national, et vient conforter les compétences des chercheurs régionaux en matière de recherche sur les maladies infectieuses transmises à l'homme ou à l'animal. La Région Languedoc-Roussillon dispose ainsi de la plus grande compétence de recherche en ce domaine. Cette plate-forme nécessite néanmoins des équipements complémentaires, en vue de la manipulation de virus particuliers hautement pathogènes. (French)
