La actividad económica de HIERROS Y CARBONES S.A gira en torno a la transformación, distribución y comercialización de carriles, accesorios y materiales de vía ferroviaria. Una de sus principales variables de diferenciación radica en que HICASA dispone de una planta de fabricación de carriles ligeros, hecho que se convierte en una ventaja competitiva clave para el acceso a nuevos mercados, dado que le dota de la flexibilidad adecuada para adaptar sus productos o desarrollar otros nuevos, que cumplan con los requisitos del cliente o con la normativa específica de cada país -las más recurrentes son la europea (normas UNE-EN) y la americana (ASTM). Cumplimiento de las líneas directrices marcadas por la política estratégica de la empresa que persiguen un doble objetivo. Por un lado, la consolidación de la posición de proveedor de referencia de la empresa en aquellos mercados en los que opera en la actualidad.
