Málaga, al igual que toda la región andaluza, es un medio natural muy valioso, con ecosistemas complejos, importantes recursos naturales y una singularidad paisajista. En este contexto, tal y cómo apunta la Prioridad 3 de la Estrategia de Innovación de Andalucía RIS3 (Aprovechamiento sostenible de los recursos endógenos de base territorial) es necesario gestionar los recursos naturales para ser utilizados de forma sostenible. La operación a desarrollar LifeWatch ALBORAN va a fomentar ese uso sostenible de los recursos endógenos de la ciudad, al facilitar la gestión de la biodiversidad terrestre y marina así como incrementar el conocimiento científico y ciudadano en esta materia en la ciudad de Málaga.
