Controlled inoculations in semifield trials shall be carried out for these tests, and bioassays and molecular detection tests for fungi shall be carried out for evaluations if necessary. (Activity 3)_x000D_ (3) Development and commercial application of the positive strains in the treatment of seeds (peletised or coating) (Activity 4)_x000D_ If the endophytic capacity of these entomopathogenic fungi is demonstrated and their introduction by root or seed, a product or formulation could be obtained that would be used to cover the seeds, at the last stage of their management before planting. This plant could have a degree of protection against pests and diseases that would reduce or complement current pest and disease control methods, being a new tool in integrated crop management strategies. This technology of coating or pelletising seeds with endophyte fungi, is not currently used in crop protection, at least with entomopathogenic fungi. There are some references to the use of growth-promoting bacteria and fungal antagonists, but not with insecticide-like endophytes. (English)

    Este proyecto pretende,_x000D_ (1) Determinación del carácter endofítico de tres cepas de hongos comercializadas por Koppert España como bioinsecticidas (Lecanicillium muscari, Beauveria bassiana, Metharhizum anisopliae) y/u otras cepas fúngicas procedentes de otras colecciones. (Actividades 1 y 2)_x000D_ (2) Evaluación de si la presencia de estos hongos de forma endofítica en la planta tiene algún efecto o acción sobre diversos fitófagos y fitopatógenos. Para la realización de estas pruebas se harán inoculaciones controladas en ensayos en semicampo, y para las evaluaciones se realizarán bioensayos y pruebas de detección molecular de los hongos si fuese necesario. (Actividad 3)_x000D_ (3) Desarrollo y aplicación comercial de las cepas positivas en el tratamiento de semillas (peletizado o recubrimiento) (Actividad 4)_x000D_ Si se demuestra la capacidad endofítica de estos hongos entomopatógenos y su introducción por vía radicular o semilla, podría conseguirse un producto o formulado que sería utilizado para recubrir las semillas, en la última fase de su manejo antes de plantación. Esta planta podría tener un grado de protección contra plagas y enfermedades que minoraría o complementarías los actuales métodos de control de plagas y enfermedades, siendo una nueva herramienta en las estrategias de manejo integrado de los cultivos. Esta tecnología de recubrimiento o peletizado de semillas con hongos endófitos, no es usada en la actualidad en protección de cultivos, al menos con hongos entomopatógenos. Sí hay algunas referencias de utilización de bacterias promotoras del crecimiento y hongos antagonistas de enfermedades fúngicas, pero no con endófitos con carácter insecticida. (Spanish)
