Property / summary: Although one of the main reasons for initiating the migration process is the search for work, there are few studies on occupational health in immigrants, and even more so with prospective data. The ITSAL project (Immigration, Work and Health) started a line with a study of workers newly arrived in Spain, continuing in 2011 with another study on the effect of the economic crisis. The objective of this new project is to analyse the conditions of employment and work and the state of physical and mental health in the beginning of a cohort of immigrant population in Alicante and the influence of the change of determinants on health problems during their follow-up. The study will be of longitudinal design with baseline data collection and follow-up at 6 and 18 months. Variables relating to general health, mental health and occupational health problems shall be included. The main independent variables will be the conditions of employment (occupation, type of contract and employment history) and of work (ergonomic, psychosocial, physical and chemical). Information will also be collected on other sociodemographic variables (age, gender, level of education, legal status, family situation, knowledge of the language, time of residence in Spain). Also about the characteristics of housing and certain lifestyle habits. The exhibition will consist of 180 families of immigrants from Latin America, Maghreb and Eastern Europe and 50 natives in Barcelona and Alicante. Information will be obtained from parents by interview using standardised questionnaires (English) / rank | |||||||||||||||
