In recent years, STOLT has focused its R & D activity on the study of intensive breeding of Senegalese sole, and especially on the study of the factors that make it possible to achieve the reproduction of cultivated animals, the main challenge of the sector. In previous studies (IDI-20111341), this problem was addressed from the point of view of nutritional factors that influence the quality and quantity of gametes under intensive conditions, and knowledge of artificial fertilisation (FA) of this species. The results allowed significant progress in FA of this species. Additionally, it was determined that although nutrition is a critical and fundamental aspect in reproduction, it is only part of the solution needed to solve reproductive dysfunction of cultivated breeding, the most important factor being in all cases the origin of the breeder, wild or cultivated.
