NUESTRA HIPOTESIS ES QUE UN MEJOR CONOCIMIENTO DE LA ARQUITECTURA DE LOS VASOS, DE LA EXPRESION GENICA EN R. SOLANACEARUM, MEDIANTE LA REALIZACION DE UN ANALISIS EXHAUSTIVO DE TRANSCRIPTOMICA LAS DIFERENTES ETAPAS DEL CICLO DE VIDA DE LA BACTERIA Y EL DESARROLLO DE NUEVAS TECNOLOGIAS PARA EL SEGUIMIENTO DEL PATOGENO Y LA SECRECION DE EFECTORES IN PLANTA; 2) ESTUDIAR SISTEMATICAMENTE LOS DIFERENTES NIVELES DE DEFENSA DESARROLLADAS POR LAS PLANTAS PARA CONTRARRESTAR LA INFECCION POR R. SOLANACEARUM, MEDIANTE LA DISECCION DE LOS MECANISMOS VEGETALES QUE GENERAN BARRERAS ESTRUCTURALES VASCULARES, LA CARACTERIZACION GENETICA DE LAS PRIMERAS DEFENSAS INDUCIBLES ESPECIFICAS DE LA RAIZ, LA IDENTIFICACION DE PROTEASAS DE AOPLASTO Y XILEMA QUE PARTICIPAN EN LA LUCHA CONTRA EL PATOGENO Y LA EVALUACION DEL PAPEL DE LOS AGREGADOS PRETEICOS EN EL CONTEXTO DE LA MUERTE CELULAR INDUCIDA POR PATOGENOS; Y 3) IDENTIFICAR NUEVOS PRODUCTOS NATURALES EFICACES CONTRA LAS ENFERMEDADES BACTERIANAS DE LAS PLANTAS EN COLABORACION CON EMPRESAS DE AGROBIOTECNOLOGIA Y EXPERTOS DE NANOMATERIALES. A LARGO PLAZO, ESPERAMOS QUE ESTE PROYECTO CONTRIBUYA A AUMENTAR LA PRODUCCION DE ALIMENTOS DE MANERA SOSTENIBLE, LUCHANDO DE FORMA DURADERA CONTRA LA ENFERMEDAD. EL PROYECTO ESTA RESPALDADO POR UNA PYME ESPAÑOLA, DOS COMPAÑIAS MULTINACIONALES Y EL INSTITUTO NACIONAL DE INVESTIGACION AGRICOLA DEL URUGUAY, CON QUIENES COLABORAMOS. THIS PROJECT AIMS TO: 1) IDENTIFY GENES ESSENTIAL FOR THE VIRULENCE OF R. SOLANACEARUM, BY PERFORMING A THOROUGH ANALYSIS OF TRANSCRIPTOMICA THE DIFFERENT STAGES OF THE LIFE CYCLE OF THE BACTERIA AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF NEW TECHNOLOGIES FOR THE MONITORING OF PATHOGENS AND SECRETION OF EFFECTORS IN PLANT; 2) SYSTEMATICALLY STUDY THE DIFFERENT LEVELS OF DEFENSE DEVELOPED BY PLANTS TO COUNTERACT THE INFECTION BY R. SOLANACEARUM, THROUGH THE DISSECTION OF THE PLANT MECHANISMS THAT GENERATE VASCULAR STRUCTURAL BARRIERS, GENETIC CHARACTERISATION OF THE FIRST INDUCIBLE DEFENSES SPECIFIC TO THE ROOT, THE IDENTIFICATION OF AOPLASTE PROTEASES AND XYLEMA INVOLVED IN THE FIGHT AGAINST PATHOGENS AND THE EVALUATION OF THE ROLE OF PRETEICOS AGGREGATES IN THE CONTEXT OF PATHOGEN-INDUCED CELL DEATH; AND 3) IDENTIFY NEW EFFECTIVE NATURAL PRODUCTS AGAINST BACTERIAL PLANT DISEASES IN COLLABORATION WITH AGROBIOTECNOLOGY COMPANIES AND NANOMATERIAL EXPERTS. IN THE LONG TERM, WE HOPE THAT THIS PROJECT WILL CONTRIBUTE TO INCREASING FOOD PRODUCTION IN A SUSTAINABLE WAY, FIGHTING THE DISEASE IN A LASTING WAY. THE PROJECT IS SUPPORTED BY A SPANISH SME, TWO MULTINATIONAL COMPANIES AND THE NATIONAL AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF URUGUAY, WITH WHOM WE COLLABORATE. THIS WILL ENSURE THE TRANSFER OF RESULTS AND METHODS TO THE PRODUCTIVE SYSTEM AND, THEREFORE, TO SOCIETY IN GENERAL. (English)
