The operation aims to recover, through its rehabilitation and enhancement for uses of natural tourism, sports and heritage, the historical road known as the Bishop’s Alameda, included in the Inventory of Public Roads of the municipality of Cordoba with the name of Camino Vecinal del Alcaide, as well as its connection with the Gardens and Huerta del Alcázar, with the Natural Monument Sotos de la Albolafia, with the Botanical Garden and with the only river pier of the city. It is a heritage element of the utmost importance, having connected for centuries the Alcázares de Córdoba with the peri-urban residences of aristocratic character located next to the right bank of the Guadalquivir. These great Umayyad almunias, and the Roman villas that preceded them, have been located on the grounds of the Municipal Zoo, Alameda del Obispo, Vado de Casillas and Cortijo del Alcaide. From the Caliphate bridge of the Cantarranas Creek, this ceremonial road, also known as the Almunias, turned northwest towards Madinat al-Zahra. A first action will collect all the documentation necessary for the implementation of the project. The second will consist of the signposting and diffusion of the road for pedestrian, cyclist and equestrian use in its 6.5.. m in length. The rehabilitation of the road will be done in two sections, 430 and 450 m long, with soft materials suitable for its use and in accordance with the natural and heritage space through which they run. The connections between the Bishop’s Alameda Way and the Alcázar Gardens will be made through five performances of which three are existing and two will be executed on a new floor. Finally, the Jardins Bajos del Álcazar, located next to the southern wall and on the Bishop’s Way of Alameda, will be rehabilitated, and the Alto Garden, located between the Tower of the Lions and the Tower of the Inquisition, will be restored.
