(Spanish)

There is a broad interest in the characterisation of the hippocampus in the field of schizophrenia since it is a region that, according to several lines of evidence, can play a major role in clinical, functional and cognitive abnormalities found in this disease. The objective of the project presented is to use an innovative method of segmentation of hippocampal subregions to examine long-term longitudinal change and its association with clinical, cognitive and functional 10-year evolution. This is an extension of the previous longitudinal study carried out in our center with the sample PAFIP (Programa Asistencial Fases Initial Psicosis) of Cantabria (PI14/00918 and PI14/00639). We already have a sample of 118 patients and 116 patients with baseline image and, taking into account the follow-up of the previous study, we estimate that 60-70 patients and controls will follow up at 10 years. It is remarkable the availability of the same 3T RM and the same initial sequence that is suitable for the segmentation method as we have been able to check in the piloting already developed (see attached image). The variables of the study include 7 hypocampal subregions, in addition to cognitive, clinical, functional, genetic and demographic variables of the subjects. (English)
