(Spanish)

There is a growing interest in the scientific-health community in the precise characterisation of lung morphology, both for the study of lung diseases and for their treatment through inhaled drugs. The difficulty of this study lies in the complexity of the bronchial tree, which increases exponentially with the number of levels. So far, most of the research has only managed to reach the third or fourth level, although, with the improvement of radiological techniques and simulations in silico, it is possible to go much further. The main objective of the project is to develop lung models that can be used to predict the progression of diseases in the airways and their response to treatment and to create a platform to produce patient-specific tools. The methodology for achieving these objectives is as follows: I) Reconstruction of the bronchial tree, ii) Experimental determination of particle deposition, iii) Generation and simulation of geometries in CFD models. Semi-automation of the process, iv) Simulation of lung diseases and particle deposition. (English)
