One of the strategic objectives of the Slovak Republic in the process of European integration is to connect Slovakia’s transport links to the European transport network.The D3 motorway is in line with Slovakia’s development strategy, international treaties, the concept of territorial development of the Slovak Republic (KURS), as well as the concept of road and motorway network development. It is part of the D1 – D3 motorway in the route Bratislava – Trenčín – Žilina – Skalité with connection to Poland. The D3 motorway is disconnected from the D1 motorway in the area of Lower Hričov, which continues in the eastern direction to Košice. The D3 motorway is also part of the multimodal transport corridor No VI, the Trans-European Networks and the Trans-European Metropolitan Municipality in the north-south direction. This is a project preparation for the construction of the motorway in category D 24,5/80 in the section Žilina, Brodno -Kysucké Nové Mesto. The activities of this project focus on the project preparation of the section of the D3 motorway with the aim of removing key bottlenecks on the TEN-T road infrastructure through the preparation (construction) of new sections of motorways. The place of implementation of the project is Žilinský kraj, Žilina and Kysucké Nové Mesto. Jedným zo strategických cieľov Slovenskej republiky v procese európskej integrácie je napojenie dopravných väzieb Slovenska na európsku dopravnú sieť.Diaľnica D3 je v súlade so stratégiu rozvoja Slovenska, medzinárodnými zmluvami, koncepciou územného rozvoja SR (KURS), ako aj koncepciou rozvoja cestnej a diaľničnej siete. Je súčasťou diaľničného ťahu D1 – D3 v trase Bratislava – Trenčín – Žilina - Skalité s napojením na Poľsko. Diaľnica D3 sa v priestore Dolného Hričova odpája od diaľnice D1, ktorá pokračuje východným smerom do Košíc. Diaľnica D3 je zároveň súčasťou Multimodálneho dopravného koridoru č. VI, Transeurópskych sietí a Transeurópskej magistrály v smere sever - juh. Jedná sa o projektovú prípravu pre stavbu diaľnice v kategórii D 24,5/80 v úseku Žilina, Brodno -Kysucké Nové Mesto. Aktivity tohto projektu sú zamerané na projektovú prípravu úseku diaľnice D3 s cieľom odstránenia kľúčových úzkych miest na cestnej infraštruktúre TEN-T prostredníctvom prípravy (výstavby) nových úsekov diaľnic. Miestom realizácie projektu je Žilinský kraj, okresy Žilina a Kysucké Nové Mesto. Diaľnica D3 je súčasťou TEN-T koridoru, pričom plní významnú vnútroštátnu ako aj medzinárodnú dopravnú funkciu.
