The aim of the project is to reduce the energy intensity of the building of the University of Žilina, namely the BJ block located at: University 8215/1, 010 26 Žilina. This block serves mainly to ensure the teaching process of higher education. The existing building was realised approx. in 1969 as one to two-storey building with basement in a small part of the building, with a structural system of reinforced concrete and steel skeleton with filling masonry, with a flat roof finished attic and cornice with built-up area of about 3114.96 m². The object is connected to all utilities. The building is used for teaching and research activities for students along with facilities for teachers and researchers. The building is currently insulated with 6 cm polystyrene, the roof above the halls is after overhaul of the covering, which currently meets the heat technical standard, but the roofs above the corridors do not have sufficient insulation and therefore it is necessary to realise their warming from the exterior together with the coating covering of PVC hr.1,5 mm (SIKA, FATRAFOL...).The proposed building modifications represent insulation of the perimeter walls of the designed part of the building, including fillings of holes, insulation of the roof structure above the connecting corridors, replacement of luminaires and regulation of the heating system.  The proposed changes will reduce the overall energy intensity of the building from the current energy class B (global indicator – Primary energy) to energy class A1, the building will become the implementation of the ultra-low-energy project.
