The project addresses the problem of low commun. accessibility and low quality of transport and communication nets which impede the internat. road traffic and significantly restrict the develop. opportunities in the Programme area. The overall obj. of the project is to improve the road accessibility to the PL-RUS c-b. and to develop. the reg. transport and commun. networks. The proj. should allow to increase carrying capacity of the road infrastr., to improve transport flows and access to the nat. and internat. trans. systems. Project results: -increase road safety and elimination of road accidents; -devel. and modern infrastr. (econ. growth key factor); -improve. the effective. business and incr. enterprises' willingness to invest and will be conduc. to employment situation. -a joint awareness-raising campaign promoting the environ.friendly low-carbon transport systems and road safety in the urban areas -ensure a more favorable business environ. for SMEs Project outputs: In Gurievsk district, reconstr. two-lane road of 2,225 km from the bridge over the Gurievka River (including the bridge) to the Avangardnoe settlement with the aim of connecting nearby settlements with an exit on regional circular road ‘Severniy obhod Kaliningrada’. In Ruciane Nida, reconstr. two-lane road o 2,420 km and commuting to ul. Kolejowa and Polna (main transport route connec. with the national transit route No. 58 - connecting the expressway No. 7 (Olsztynek) - by expressway No. 61 (Szczuczyn), which will be a part of the Via Baltica motorway) Cross-border impact: -will enable passengers and goods to get to border crossings faster and more conveniently. -will ensure a more favorable business environ. for SMEs -better access to numerous economic, sports and cultural facilities located in c-b. area Beneficiares: all categories of population, including pensionaries, families with children and disabled people, Drivers and passengers, driving from PL to RUS and vice versa (English)
