The aim of the Modern Book project is to exploit the multifunctional potential of QR code, which, despite its 20 year history, has not exhausted its capacity in the book industry in Slovakia.QR code is itself an interesting communication tool. It is very interactive, it can attract, creates space for creativity and activity, can unleash curiosity. Why not use it paradoxically in such a conservative medium as a book? The project is designed mainly for popular publications (monography, travel books, creeks, promotional brochures), but also educational books, periodicals. An innovative element is the information that the QR code will pass on to its readers in the book. In the introductory part of our project, there will be four book publications – monographs, concerning four Slovak cities. The basic information of the QR code in this type of publications will be the GPS of the displayed place (cultural monument, mountain ranges, river, square, park, accommodation facilities, services, etc.). The photo of the site can be both contemporary and historical. The base use of the QR code in this case will be the location of the location from where the photo was taken. This will serve both visitors of the area for navigation to the site and, for example, novice photographers (position for interesting compositions, etc.) the QR code will be incorporated in the book or periodical so that it does not interfere (e.g. frequency of use of reader/smartphones), but on the contrary, it has added value to the print medium and interesting facts in addition.QR with GPS is a class on the Slovak book market. It responds to the impulsiveness and curiosity of modern people, can accurately enter the GPS coordinates of the scanned point, it is easy to apply even to users with zero technological practice. In addition, the QR code has an aesthetic value – it is minimalist. (English) | |||||||||||||||

(Slovak)
