A operação surge da necessidade de assegurar a proteção de pessoas e bens, através de intervenções subsequentes de consolidação estrutural, devido ao perigo de queda de blocos e possíveis movimentos de massas, relativamente a duas encostas de morfologia muito acidentada, com o agravamento das mesmas terem sido atingida pelos incêndios que fustigaram a Cidade do Funchal entre 8 e 11 de agosto de 2016, que condicionaram ainda mais essas áreas. The operation arises from the need to ensure the protection of people and assets, through subsequent interventions of structural consolidation, due to the danger of falling blocks and possible mass movements, in relation to two slopes of very rugged morphology, with the aggravation of these areas having been hit by the fires that ravaged Funchal City between 8 and 11 August 2016, which further conditioned these areas.
