Eesti rannikumeres kasvav punavetikas (Furcellaria lumbricalis) on unikaalne taastuv loodusvara, millel on palju kasutamisvõimalusi. Peale toiduainete- ja kosmeetikatööstuses kasutatava furtsellaraani sisaldab punavetikas värvipigmente. Projekti käigus selgitatakse välja efektiivsed ekstraktsioonivõimalused punavetikast R-fükoerütriini tööstuslikus mahus eraldamiseks ning saadud värvipigmendi kasutusvõimalusi kosmeetika- ja toidutöösuses. The red seaweed (Furcellaria lumbricalis), which grows in the Estonian coastal sea, is a unique renewable resource with many uses. Besides furcellaran used in the food and cosmetic industry contains colour pigments in red algae. The project will identify effective extraction options for the industrial extraction of red alga R-phykoerythrin and the use of the resulting colour pigment in cosmetics and food processing.
