The aim of the research is to establish a decision-making support system (tool) that ensures effective use of forest breeding results for increasing the productivity of tree stands, taking into account the effects of climate change, as well as to provide intellectual property rights to such systems in the determination of the optimal range of use of forest breeding. The project will be interdisciplinary impact of the woods, as well as to provide intellectual property rights for such systems in the field of vegetatively multiplying clones. 495 000 forest owners – natural and legal persons – the current market for forest reproductive material, which exceeds 100 mil seedlings, with an increasing trend. Therefore, cooperation with Lithuania (one participant in the project) and Estonia (joint doctoral student and letter of support) as well as with Sweden (Skogforska, letter of support) will be ensured.Interdisciplinary and cross-border cooperation will provide a stable platform for the activities of 3 doctoral students (for the development of two doctoral papers on project results and for the completion of one supplement related to forest management risks and climate data as project themes). It will also ensure the development of the competence of the project team and, consequently, the capacity to participate in future studies on the most pressing areas of forest adaptation, resilience, risk mitigation and development of climate-adjusted forestry solutions. The project will mainly contribute to the priority area of the smart specialisation strategy of Latvia RIS3 in the field of “Improved knowledge base and human capital in the fields of knowledge, where Latvia has comparative advantages and are important in transforming knowledge in the economy” and refer to the field “Knowledge-intensive bioeconomy”, but also “Effective use of priority products in the production of higher value added products, creation and diversification of new materials and technologies” and “Continued search for new products and/or services”.The project implementation areas are “Professional and technical services”. Statistical classification of economic activities corresponding to the expected result of the project: NACE 2 ‘Forestry and logging’ and 74.90 ‘Professional, scientific and technical activities not elsewhere classified’. The project will have an indirect impact on a sector such as NACE 16 'Manufacture of wood, wood and cork products other than furniture; The project is related to economic activity, and it will be presented by the Latvian State Forest Science Institute “Silava” – the leading forest science idea, research and development centre in Latvia, responsible for the forest tree breeding programme, as well as the implementation of forest adaptation and productivity related studies (including Forest Statistical Inventory) – thus all necessary information base and intellectual capacity is available for implementation of the project prepared. The project will be implemented as an industrial research (LL). Main activities of the project:1)Development of climate transfer functions;2)Climate coordination;3)Evaluation of genetic benefit;4) development of non-linear climate and tree growth relationship models; 5)Development of decision making support instrument. The main activities of the project will be supplemented with project management, knowledge and technology transfer and information activities. “Scientific institution – LVMI "Silava" and "staff employed in science and research, doctoral students" will have access to the following support measures: In the project the following results are planned:-10 original scientific articles;-1 prototype – decision-making support tool (tool);-1 intellectual property “Model decision support system for selection of clone material”-participation in 4 scientific conferences; 9 public outreach activities; —3 young scientists (with total FTE 1.6) who are involved in the realisation of the research and after the project preserved their work places The sustainability of the project results will be ensured by continuous research activities in areas where the skills and competences of the project team will be increased, international cooperation will be strengthened, and that are related to national and international policy and strategic development documents – mainly adaptation and climate change mitigation. A more lasting impact of the project results will also be promoted by publications in open access sources, the demonstration object in the forest of the Meza Research Station, the development of the instrument and the incorporation of research results materials into study courses. Projekta kopējās izmaksas: 603 441,48 EUR no tām plānotais ERAF atbal (Latvian)
